A collection of walking sticks outside an old granary in the village of Fang. Fang at 900m altitude is a village at an important crossroads in the Val d’Anniviers, Switzerland. Even the Huns and the Saracens passed this way in medieval times ! The village is divided into 3 parts and in Upper Fang the oldest surviving building is dated from the early 18th century (there was a destructive earthquake in 1946, level 6 on the Richter scale).
This collection of rustic walking sticks immediately caught my eye ! One wonders who carved them, who used them, how old are they ? Just above the sticks hangs an old cowbell, typical of the type used in this valley.
