This painting is of a view of the Glacier de Moiry and the 2 rocky summits of the Pointes de Mourtie (3564m and 3529m), taken from the path walking up to the Cabane de Moiry, above Grimentz, Val d’Anniviers, Switzerland. The glacier is now less than 5km long. In 1905 it stretched to 6km.
I really enjoyed painting the crackles and lines on the glacier, which contrasts well with the smooth flows of snow covered ice.
