Originally from the north of England I have lived in Switzerland for many years, and reside in the mountains, in the beautiful Val d’Anniviers. I am inspired by the wild landscapes, the colours of the rocky earth and the lights and shadows which dance on the high summits. I also enjoy perusing the terrain under my feet and have spent many happy hours drawing and studying the local flora.
Pencils, sketchbooks and camera have also accompanied me on trips to places a lot further afield. As a child I had always dreamt of travel and often had my nose in an atlas instead of school books ! Back in 1977 I took the plunge and left my teaching job in UK to go and work in a school in Sabah, North Borneo, East Malaysia. Thus began my travels and adventures on the other side of the world ! Which continue. I still love to set off and explore new places.
On return to Europe in the early 80’s, Geneva became my home, where my children were born and I continued to work in Primary School teaching. I also participated in different art exhibitions and craft fairs.
Most of my images are made in watercolour and pencil, drawing being the essential part of all my work . I sketch outside, use photos and my imagination. The gallery collection is a « mélange » of drawings and watercolours, here, there and everywhere…
